International Student Tuition Fees & Costs

Heaton Normal Intermediate welcomes the enrolment of international students.

International Student Fees

One Term   NZ$ 4,000

Four Terms  NZ$ 15,000

All payments must be for full weeks and will be in accordance with the Enrolment Contract, Refund Policy and Indemnity Contract.

Short-Term Enrolments: Available on a case-by-case basis.

Fee Structure: We do not offer weekly or pro-rata payment options. Short-term enrolments (e.g., 6 weeks) are subject to the standard flat one-term fee of NZ$ 4,000.

Tuition Fees Include

  • ESOL (additional English-language support, if required).
  • A portion of the school’s operational costs.
  • The Government levy.
  • GST (Goods and Services Tax, a Government tax currently amounting to 15% of the annual fee).
  • Curriculum tuition, including technology specialist classes.

Additional Compulsory Costs

Additional compulsory costs cover administration fees of NZ$650 (non-refundable), insurance, uniform, stationery, BYOD, and specialised assessments or teaching. 

Additional Optional Costs

Class trips/camps/performances, external exams, specialised music tuition & associated costs, online digital curriculum programmes, extracurricular activities, NZ dental and health services. 

Refunds

Refunds are processed in accordance with our clear refund policy, designed to provide transparency and peace of mind. Please contact the International Student Coordinator for further information.

Visas

You must have a student visa and insurance to study full-time in New Zealand. For detailed application procedures, fees, and timelines, refer to the New Zealand Immigration Service website.

Insurance

Before enrolment commences, international students must obtain appropriate insurance, including unlimited medical care, expatriation and repatriation. 

Orbit Protect or Southern Cross are two insurance options.

Accommodation in homestay residential care can be arranged for students, subject to availability. We do not arrange accommodation for parents. Homestay fees are NZ$400 per week. This covers the cost of caregiver supervision, a fully furnished and heated room, meals and laundry. Students are expected to keep rooms clean and tidy. Homestay fees are to be paid in full to Heaton Normal Intermediate School when tuition fees are paid.

The homestay placement fee is NZ$650 (GST inclusive). This includes the cost of finding and inspecting the homestay, obtaining police vetting and ongoing pastoral care. 

Students may live with a designated caregiver if compliance requirements are met and the school approves. Administration costs include NZ$650 per year or NZ$500 per term.

A designated caregiver is a relative or close family friend, designated in writing by a parent or legal guardian of an international student under 18 years as the caregiver and accommodation provider for that student.

He Tīwai Mātauranga Heaton Normal Intermediate has partnered with Flywire to offer a secure and streamlined way to make a payment from overseas.

HOW TO MAKE A PAYMENT

  1. To get started, log in to Enroller to view the Offer and Invoice summary. Select “I am paying from overseas” to pay via Flywire, then click ‘Pay now’.
  2. Once you are redirected to the Flywire website, select the country you would like to pay from.
  3. Enter some basic information to initiate your payment booking.
  4. Follow the instructions provided to send funds to Flywire. For debit/credit card payments, enter your card details online to complete your payment in your home currency. Note: Additional local payment options may be available depending on the country you are paying from.
  5. Receive text and email status updates at each step of the way, including a confirmation when your payment has been delivered to your institution. You can also create a Flywire account to track your payment online 24×7.
